Procedurally generated game worlds are commonplace nowadays, but Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy looks like it’s doing it right. Interestingly, when you die you can choose to play in the same world again, but time will have passed on and your previous character’s actions may have had an effect on the world. It’s a complex system that is designed to create a living, breathing world that feels like it was handcrafted. The procedural generation in Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy isn’t just limited to creating the world – it permeates the whole experience, including storytelling, multi-level quests, environmental puzzles and combat situations. Also, you won’t be stuck underground for the whole game – you’ll venture outside and explore forests, valleys and mountains (and the occasional dungeon). The visuals have had an overhaul, with more of an isometric viewpoint than a pure top-down one which allows for some beautiful vistas and some more complex puzzle design. Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy is a stylish roguelike action RPG adventure that aims to take procedural generation to a whole new level, while also making it feel like a hand crafted experience.Ī sequel to Ludomotion’s highly regarded 2017 release, Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy looks set to build on Unexplored’s innovative procedural generation to deliver a new and unique procedurally generated experience every time you play it, while still feeling like a hand authored adventure. ![]()
